Associate Director of Business Operations/Social Enterprise, Waltham, MA

More Than Words (MTW) seeks a business oriented, entrepreneurial manager to provide operational leadership around all aspects of MTW’s retail and online businesses (which include an online and retail used bookstore and coffee bar). This position requires an individual with prior retail management experience (bricks and mortar, as well as on-line retail), a commitment to working directly with youth and a track record of motivating and supervising staff to establish and meet high performance standards around managing cost effective inventory and distribution, marketing and merchandising, customer service, and profitability. As with any retail enterprise, this position will require flexible scheduling and direct work with customers and suppliers.

Education and Employment Manager: Waltham and Boston

More Than Words (MTW) seeks an Education and Employment Manager with a strong background in promoting post-secondary and career access for high-risk youth. This is a new position with responsibility for designing and implementing services to support youth to make a successful transition to post-secondary education and/or employment. This position is responsible for working directly with youth participating in the core programs of MTW, as well as following up and serving youth during a 6-12 month period following successful completion of the MTW program.  During the follow up period, the Education and Employment Manager will work with graduates to map concrete and measureable education and employment plans, to support youth to achieve their goals, to track their progress and to maintain their engagement with the MTW community.

Commonwealth Corps Volunteer Coordinators, Waltham & Boston, MA

The mission of the Commonwealth Corps is to engage Massachusetts residents of all ages and backgrounds in service to strengthen communities, address unmet community needs, and increase volunteerism.  Members will serve 10.5 months in a full-time capacity, completing a minimum of 1,500 hours of service, from 8/15/13-6/28/14.  Applicants must be Massachusetts residents 18 years of age or older with legal authorization to work in the United States.  In addition to a focus on training and member development, benefits include a bi-weekly service stipend of $454.55 and several other benefits.

MTW is seeking the support of two full-time Commonwealth Corps Members to partner with MTW staff to help coordinate and oversee volunteer activities with the goal of building an engaged community that increases support for the organization and awareness of its mission.  Commonwealth Corps Members will make a lasting impact on More Than Words by laying the groundwork for a sustainable system for managing and retaining volunteers across two sites.
