Attendee Reviews:
“Thank you so much for inspiring us with your authenticity and ingenuity! We left Boston last night buzzing with all of the possibilities and learnings for our community in Chicago. Beyond the records, books, shirts and socks we bought in the store, what we’re really thrilled to bring home with us are your thoughts, smiles, insights, wisdom, and solidarity. Wicked awesome Institute, you guys!”
– Bobby White, Chief Program Officer, Cara Chicago
“The More Than Words Training Institute was an in-depth and inspiring look at an organization that is able to balance running a serious business while also empowering at-risk youth to achieve measurable educational and employment outcomes. The training provided an overview of the founding and history of the MTW, and a more focused look at how they work on a daily basis with the young people they serve. Staff members shared with us many materials developed for their youth development program. It was impressive to see how comprehensive their evaluation system is, and thought-provoking to engage in hands-on evaluation exercises. This training will help my organization take new, strategic steps to use data to track our impact and progress.”

“I loved learning more about MTW and the model you use to support at risk youth. SPIF stood out to me as being a crucial tool to use when working with youth in any setting. It’ a simple concept that people don’t realize just how much of an impact it can have. Providing youth with specific, positive, and intentional feedback isn’t something that I think youth hear all that often. Unfortunately most of the world today focuses on what people do wrong and rather than focusing on the positive and what they are doing right. One small praise can go such a long way. Your SPIF model really hit home with me. I’m making an effort to use that in my professional career (as well as in my personal life).”

“As an educator who has donated books in the past to MTW, I signed up for the Training Institute to learn more about how MTW works. This turned out to be a great opportunity to see the organization’s impressive operations for myself. I came away both inspired and believing more strongly than ever in their mission and in everyone involved!”
– Doris Lowy, Somerville High School
“I really appreciated the opportunity to reignite with a group of individuals doing similar work, and with similar struggles. I loved learning about the structure that MTW has in place to support youth growth. Their process and operations are very well thought out, and powered by a group of very passionate people.”
